5105
Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and appreciate any help in advance. I am trying to help a friend with his 5105 and some other chores around his house. His tractor seems to be leaking from the left side of the steering rack. Is this something I can fix for him? (very handy with cars and can rebuild them).

If so..where is the best place to get the parts needed.

Thanks again.

John Deere dealer SHOULD be able to order a seal kit and you repair.
If the chrome rod is nicked or damaged a re-seal may not last long.

Checking JD Parts it is part number RE54761, but verify that by machine SN and go through the parts lookup with dealer to make sure it is right for the tractor you are working on. Stuff gets superseded all the time.

Depends on the cylinder just be sure to be careful with the rod and try not to nick it.

If you are somewhat mechanical it's easy, if not I'd take it to a hydraulics shop.
