5105 - 5205 comparison

All things being equal, same dealer, implements, options...

What should the range be between a new 5105 4wd and a new 5205 4wd. They are exactly the same tractor with the exception of an engine mod that increases engine power by 6HP.

MSRP difference is $1,600.00.

$1200 less for the 5105 any day, $1000 less on a good day, and $800 less the final day of the month, the quarter, the current program and that tractors floorplan /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

I was quoted $23,600 for the 5105 4wd with 522 fel & canopy.
I went with the 5205 4wd with 522 fel & canopy for $25,000.
Wish I would have looked at another series or even a different manufacturer because the 5105 & 5205 does not have enough low forward gears and most important of all, they are not syncromesh which means you have to come to a complete stop to move up or down in the gears..They have a great paint job..

my neighbor has a 5205 4wd, i cant imagine it not having atleast partial syncromesh. ill have to ask him about it. thats too expencive a tractor for no syncro.

Only syncro is between forward & reverse in low range A..For loader work..

if this is true then someone at john deere needs to be slapped. any tractor in that price range can shift between atleast some of the gears. i hope my neighbor shows up this weekend.

I agree..I expressed that to the sales person where I bought it..Evidently JD engineers don't get out into the real world or they are just trying to fill a 'Price Gap' with that series..
