John Deere 5090E
I pick up my new to me 2019 5090e today. It is an open station 4x4 with loader prep package(no loader but I'll get one). 24 speed with 1100 hours. It is from an individual. It's way more tractor than I need for now but...
Any maintenance tips or things to pay extra attention to? Which loader should I get 520 or 540?

I have a '20 cab version. I got the 540M MSL loader on mine. What does a loader prep package include? Most people put the 520M loader on them but I got the grapple bucket for mine and I wanted the heavier loader. I keep the RPMs up on mine, like above 1000 to 1200. With 300 hours it's regen'd one time. I have the blue tooth device so I can keep up with things on my tractor app. That's really nice for service intervals on everything. Mine obviously has factory 3rd function on the loader to run my bucket grapple, Limb Hog and hydraulic post hole digger.

Oh and I would advise to get the set of diagnostic manuals. I got all of them but the one for the engine. I need to get that one. It has all of the engine codes in it.

Loader prep has all the hoses, brackets, etc.. needed to mount the loader. It looks like your tractor if the take the loader off. What is the blue tooth devise and app your talking about?
I'm a first time Green owner so not up to date on everything. There is a local dealer on the way home so that helps.

I bought a 2018 5085e last year. Open station with 540m loader and 73” HD bucket. As far as loaders I would of taken either the 520 or 540 , this one just happened to have 540. The 520 doesn’t stick out to so far in front of tractor so might be better in tight quarters. 540 will lift close to a foot higher and has more reach which I really appreciate when pushing burning brush piles together. Both are very nice loaders. Are your rear tires loaded ? Mine are not and I’m not going to fill them, I added wheel weights. If I’m going to be doing extensive heavy loader work I easily add my heavy hitch with 16 weights on 3pt. When you get a chance post some pics.

I’m not sure if the rear tires are loaded or not. I would like more info on the heavy hitch. It came with front weights, which I could move to the back.
So far, I like the tractor. The 24 speed and power reverser are awesome. I do plan to get the 540. I don’t believe I want the MSL, just personal preference. Do you like the 73” bucket or should I get the 84”?
I did find out when I picked it up that the dealer had done all servicing on it, so there are records for everything.

Why did you choose to use wheel weights instead of filling the tires?

I’ve had quite a few tractors with loaded tires and just don’t like dealing with it. wheel weights add just enough to get by for a lot of lighter loader work I do equalwithout so much soil compaction which I’m always concerned with. If I need the extra ballast for heavy loader jobs that heavy hitch and weights goes on in about 5min since I built a heavy dolly for it . The 1700lbs ~ on the 3pt would ruffly equal loaded rear tires but is a much more effective and efficient ballast when placed in back of rear axle.
I do like the 73” HD bucket, penetrates hard ground easily and I believe because of its depth holds about as much as my 545d’s 84”.

If you install and remove the loader a lot like I do the 6 way Faster single point connector is worth it's weight. I have third function with the bucket grapple and the 84" bucket.
