I’ve driven tractors for most of my life. I just got a new to me 5075E JD tractor. 2019 model with power reverser.
I have been able to operate it, but sometimes when I crank, I am unable to put it in gear and “make it go”. I realize this is operator error, but what am I doing wrong? I start with the right sided gear selector in Neutral and the Left side range shifter is too. Power Reverser on the column is in Neutral as well. The “N” will sometimes blink which I think tells me I’m doing something out of order?
Someone please tell this operator how to make his tractor go forward!:)

Maybe jiggle everything. Maybe it’s not quite in neutral or the sensor switch thinks it isn’t.

I have the Kubota M6040 with hydraulic shuttle shift. My range selector is most always left in high range. I then select the gear and then use the hydraulic forward/reverse selector.

Just a guess - put the range selector in the range you want - FIRST.

Put the gear selector in the gear you want - SECOND

Then use the power reverser - THIRD

All good thoughts. I feel like it has something to do with order of shifting, so I’ll try that.

I'd guess the blinking N might mean some kind of electrical error causing the shuttle not to engage.

I'd try starting with the range and speed lever in gear, shuttle likely needs to be in N to crank, might be a weird sequencing issue for the shuttle.

If that doesn't do it....might be some electronic diagnostics needed. Should not be that hard to drive, so it's likely not you, the 5075E is a fairly simple tractor compared to some.

Is your tractor not starting or not moving?
My Branson with the power shuttle will not engage if the parking brake is on the slightest,
it will just sit there flashing a big N at me.
Lower the parking brake all the way and off we go.

My 5100 will do that as well. It always seems as though I caused it by moving too fast (ie. moving the reverser selector to forward or reverse before I get it in gear).

The PR wants a clutch operation at the first start. Try this ... Start the engine. Depress the clutch pedal and brake all the way down, Select a range, Move the gear shift from park to a gear. Select F or R at the PR on the steering column, Then releasing the brake slowly let up on the clutch . The tractor will move in the selected direction. There after you can select F or R on the steering column without clutching. I always halt the tractor and idle the engine before changing direction for a smooth operation.

The tractor is cranking fine. I can get it to move sometimes but I haven’t paid close attention to the order of things and the next time I get on it won’t “go” forward or reverse. It’s clearly an operator error because I test drove two separate tractors of the same exact make and model and had the same issues. It has to be a quirk of “order of operations”. The tractor isn’t likely broken.

Definitely. I’m going to try all these suggestions when I go down to the farm this week.

I have a 5075e with the power reverser. I find at times I'll have everything in gear, including the power reverser, and the N light will be lit up and the tractor won't move when I let out the clutch. This usually happens if I shift things quickly. I just shift the power reverser back to neutral, then back to whatever direction I want to go, and the tractor will move. Works every time for me. Hope this helps.

I had a similar issue on mine. It became harder and harder to get into gear and eventually it would not go into gear. Turned out the Power Reverser was going out and then went out completely. Replaced the Power Reverser switch and no problems since.

Thanks to everyone! All the tips appear to have helped. It was my lack of familiarity with this type of shifter. Nothing was wrong with the tractor.
1. The Power Reverser DOES like a clutch to start.
2. It does help to slow down to a complete stop between forward and reverse using the Reverser.
3. The “N” for neutral will blink for a second or two then you can shift normally.
4. It doesn’t appear to matter what gears are or are not in gear when the tractor is started. At least not on mine.
Thank y’all for all the tips!
