5075E canopy

[Soggy Bottom Outdoors]

When I bought my 5075E back in November I didn't get a canopy. Deeres price was just shy of $750. Found one at the Farm Machinery Show for $550 but lets face it I'm tight with a dollar and didn't buy. I found one from a neighbor 5510, very good shape for $100. I think it will fit. I haven't measured yet. My question is, the top is faded from the sun of course what can I use to polish/shine it up a bit. Its fiberglass. Maybe repaint it?

When I purchased my 5210 the hood was faded. I used Turtle wax rubbing compound and an electric buffer and it came out as good as new. I did have to do it several times and you will need use an electric buffer. Doing it by hand just does not get the job done.

You can paint it if you feel it is to far gone.

Go to your local car care place and check out the polishing products. You should be able to get that fiberglass looking pretty good. All these new surface care products are pretty amazing these days. An electric buffer of any kind will just make the job that much easier.

John Deere paint does fade but it is easy to bring back to life. I have had good results with the Turtle Wax white polishing compound on badly faded paint on tractors. For most cases though I would try something less abrasive first such as Meguiars #7 and then wax it to see what it looked like. I use a DeWalt polisher with good results on my boat and vehicles but you have to be careful not to burn the finishes.
