Greetings,
After looking at all the way high pricing for dealears to perform the 50 Hr service I decided I would do it myself. The oil drain is fun since there is a cross brace directly underneath the drain plugs that cause the oild to rain down in the oil pan instead of stream down like normal. Advice to all is get a truck drain pan that can catch the oil no matter where it falls out of or off of. Getting the oil filter off was easier than I expected.
Draining the HST fluid was very easy...BUT be sure that you do not take the drain bolts on the side of the tranny our all the way or fluid will pee all over the tire amd make a mell of a hess. The filters were easy to get to and were changed easy enough. Filling the thing back up with fluid needs a long flexible spout funnel. Otherwise you will never get it in there.
I used the normal fluid not the premium. The old tranny fluid was clean as were the filters. The engine oil was dirty but nothing out of line.

One important note for all self mechanics. The Kubota quick reference sheet for filters that the dealers use is WRONG for B3030 tractor HST filters. It lists the tranny filters as the same for left and right side when in fact they are different. I will post the correct numbers when I get them off the boxes.

Cost less than $87.00 for 3 filters and tranny fluid. I already had the engine oil given to me but that would only add another 6 bucks or so. It will take you about 3 hours to drain fill and grease everything. Save some cash and do it yourself and save all receipts.

Not using SUDT in your HST is a mistake.

Ive already decided to use the SUDT because here the difference in costs was about $25 for a 5 gallon can...no real "biggie" for me

The TWO filters..if I have my numbers correct are part number...
#66021-36060 (LH side)...and
#67955-37710 (RH side).

Thanks for the heads-up on draining..etc.

As someone who works in a dealership we found it is important for the 50 Hour service on a tractor with FEL to change the front axle oil completely as it comes with SUDT in the case not 80W90. If it is just a mower tractor the stress is less and not so critical. Do not forget the fuel filters as there is sometimes dirt in the tanks from assemebly and different fuel cans. Also re-check all loader mounts for proper torque and hyd fittings as these are the first things we see come loose. Our 50 Hour service charges are higher than regular LOF service for these reasons. But it is something you can do on your own if you are comfortable with and have good advice

On a B3030 model.."front differential / wheel case oil change" isnt even a maintainence item until the 300 hr mark!!!!

My dealer told me to change the front axle oil on my B3030 at 50 hours and to refill it with 80W90. Said it would make it quieter than SUDT. Sounds reasonable to me and as they have more experience than I, I trust their advice.

You are correct it does state that in the book, what we have seen is that with a loader on the tractor the SUDT being a lighter weight oil it can at times leak by the seals during loader work, chaining it to the recommened 80W90 stops the leaks. You do not have to do this, cause it doesn't always happen, but we like to take the standpoint of playing it safe whenever possible

Ive only really contacted MY dealer about the cost of UDT and SUDT..and for the "small" difference..Im going to use SUDT. "The BOOK" says 80-90...but RECOMMENDED is "UDT or SUDT"...so as far as Im concerned..SUDT it is.
