50 hr oil change

The 50hr service is totally doable on your own. Just don't forget to do the other things on the list after changing fluids and filters. It is a great time to get under the tractor with wrenches to check tightness and lube all those hard to reach zerks. Invest in a maintenance manual if you don't already have one. I cannot recall if Kioti has updated the CK manual (the old one was not great) but I can vouch for the new DK manual as a model of how these things should be written and illustrated. They cost about what you'd pay the dealer for an hour of a mechanics time so are good values.

To me, doing it myself is not about cost. It's about knowing that every plug was removed & replaced with the right tool; that every drain location was allowed plenty of time; that the magnets were cleaned completely; that every thread, both male & female, was wiped clean and inspected; that the filter can was thoroughly cleaned; that every barely visible zerk was wiped, greased, wiped; that the air cleaner cover and compartment were cleaned; and that everything was put back properly. That leaves just one thing: what to do with an overfilled 5-gal can of used fluid (besides storing it in an old shed). Dean

Our township is having a collection this Saturday!!! I am geeked to get all the jugs of waste oil out of the shop.

Guy in the village supposedly has a burner, but I haven't connected with him yet. So, it's off to the re-cycle day. Only wish they'd do it more often.

Up here there a store that sells oil must take the used oil. Good deal for me..as long as the container stays sealed on the trip out my road.

I had posted earlier I did not have that much trouble getting my filter off, now remember I used a pair of very large channel lock pliers.

Yep, the big channel-locks make stubborn filters a piece of cake (my CK20S HST filters were TIGHT) ..... I don't even know where my 'filter wrench' is anymore 'cause I always use the C-locks on all my filters

something that worked well for me on a tough filter to remove, was to cut a strip of sand paper to fit around the filter . Make it twice as wide as the filter strap wrench . fold it in half long ways , grit facing out and insert between filter and wrench . Good luck!

Find a local bull dozing, excavating, heavy equipment operator...they'll probably be glad to give you a few empty 5gal drums...they can use the used stuff to lubricate the giant earth movers or some of the other really heavy equipment that has large chain drives.

Just a note I tried 3 type of filter remover tools, none worked, what did was a welders locking vise grips the ones with a chaine built into them, worked like a charm.
