Did you guys do your 50 hr. service at home ? Any warranty issues with doing your own service ? All Kubota filters and lubes? If at the dealer, how much?

I was going to do the 50 hour service on my L3000DT but the tractor needed some warrentte work at about 46 hours. Seeing the dealer was going to pick up and deliever the tractor at no cost to me, I live in the $75.00 chagre zone, I told them to go ahead and do the 50 hour service.

The price they quoted on the phone was $250.00, which is just what I paid. Because there was another issue that had not been resolved yet with my 3PH hydraulics I figured it would be better for them to do the work.

Less than 6 hours after the tractor came home from the first visit the 3PH stopped working, so they had to come and get it again. The problem was a piece of forgein material in a pressure relief valve.

Now everything works great. I would have had to do the 50 hour service in January in an unheated barn, so I was content to let them do it. Had I not been having any problems and the weather warmer I would have done it myself.

I had my dealer do the 50hr maintenence on my Long Landtrac, only charged me $90. Since the injector timing needed to be checked and the valves adjusted as part of the 50 hr service, I figured I'd let the dealer do it. I plan on doing most of the future maintenence myself.

Billman,

I checked the price of the 4 filters(fuel, oil, 2 hyd) + UDT needed (8gal) was about $150 for parts, plus the dealer P/U delivery N/C for $300 was all done. It was just one yr old and wanted some other wty stuff done plus have the recpts for future ref.. I changed the oil at 30 hrs too as I like to be safe.

I will do all the service from here on out, next major is at 300 Hrs - probably 4 yrs unless I get some more seat time.

Had a L185DT w/ hoe before and I changed the filter and Oil and Hyd trans oil for about $100. Not sure if L3000 has filter or sleeve filter for trans case.

There are no wty issues as long as you use the Kubota products - filters, oils etc.. Local dealer has a "other filter" on his counter pulled from a $$$ HST repair- subtly suggests this is what happens when you use non brand stuff.

I do my own service for the most part. I use all Kubota products except for the oil. I use the Super UDT also. Today and yesterday I piled four 100 pound sand bags on my 6'wide and 8'long flexible tine harrow to try and bust the crust on my clay soil. I think I gave the HST a workout. J

Thanks for the help guys... By the way, A very good friend of mine is the national sales mgr. for a major filter company. If you ever want the scoop on a particular brand of filter drop me a line. As rumored before on this board there are only about 4 mfg's of filters in the U.S. It's amazing what I've learned about filters from this guy.

Billman,

It's peace of mind using the Kubota filters esp if there is an issue tho I heard the same thing about 4 mfs of filters from my local auto parts place. I use Shell Rotella engine oil, in my Benz and Bota.

I bought a few filters for the next few changes so likely won't think about this for another year or so.

My dealer does the work but you pay for the parts on the first one, however I've did the 50 & 100 myself didn't tear nothing up but an anvil (joke) and had no extra parts!

Saw your post about filters. I'm close to doing the 50 hr srv on a b7500. I intend to buy the Kubota filters and use super udt. Is there a less pricey option? I can get cheaper hydrolyic oil from tractor supply. So what;'s the scoop on the filters which are pricey?

thanks in advance for your reply!!

Yes, Yes, come on spill it! What filters can I use on my L3000, especially the air filter ,mine gets dirty fast and they are 30 bucks a piece./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif To help answer your question I did the 50 hour on mine and was suprised how easy it was, there was only one metal trans. filter screen on the side , the biggest deal was all the fluid and all the drain plugs- no real problem though.

The filters can be crossed referenced to others but I just get the 'Bota filters. I actually use New Holland oil and hydro since it's readily available at my dealer. It may cost a $ more for the 'Bota filters and NH fluids but it's not something you buy every week so the $ difference don't really matter to me. I'm filthy rich and really good looking.... Well, I get filthy and wish for the rest.

I was planning on doing my 50 hour service but my valve stem broke off and the dealer picked it up and fixed the tire and did the service for 200 bucks. I only had about 40 hours on the tractor but I plan on doing the rest of the service myself.

My dealer wanted $400 dollars to do the 50hr service on my B2910!!!
I bought the parts and had a friend who is a former mechanic for this dealer help me do it for $20. I used all Kubota filters, Rotella oil and super UDT fluid. After warranty, I will use after market filters.

Inquiring minds want to know.... Where did you buy all that Super-UDT for less than $20???? (Not to mention all the filtesr, etc were in that $20 too....

I gotta find a new supplier!!!!

I'm sorry, I ment that I paid the mechanic $20 to help me do the work. The Filters and fluids were around $100. Quite a bit less than the $400 the dealer wanted.
