S219 makes some very good points here. I think the filter is simply doing its job and a good one at that! Im not in the habit of pulling filters, just to look at them, unless already have a new one to be installed. That is just in case there is a unseen problem when I take it off. I always cut my filters too and squeeze the media in a vise, so I can inspect for particles that may or may not be present.
The very large machines never get oil changed at low (50 hour) interval, one other reason is, the very large amount of oil in components. Some hold over 250 gals!
