What do you guys recomend for oil and such for my 50 hour service? and is there anything special that I need to know or things not mentioned in the manual?

If this question has been posted before I would really apreciate if someone could post a link...

Thanks!

When I did mine I changed the oil w/ the recommended weight (10-30w I believe) along w/ the outside air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, hydro filters and hydro fluid. I also greased the various fittings and made sure all exposed fasteners were still tight and all fluid levels were good. I also looked around for excess wear at possible rub points...basically a good once over. I think some will tell you that changing the hydro fluid isnt necessary which is true.

Be aware that the grease fitting chart in the manual is generic and some points may not exist on your machine. You really need to crawl around underneath and take inventory then make notes about what is where.

BTW there is a post about a year or so ago about this very subject...50 hr work on a 24...you should search for it b/c theres some good info contained in it.

The manaul does a good job pointing you to the various drain plugs filters etc. You might want to size up what you'll need for filter wrenches.

What the manual doesn't prepare you for is the sticker shock on the HST & hydraulic filter prices. One of them is near $40.

There have been a few "50 hour" documentaries here costs, tools used etc. - try a search.

One more thing...if you change the hydro fluid youll want a large drain pan b/c theres alot of fluid. What the manual doesnt tell you is that while there are 3 drain pts for the hydro fluid you can really get away w/ using only 2. Those would be the plugs at the bottom of the final drive housings. Theyre the lowest points in the system and from there you can drain all the fluid. Youll also want a funnel to make the refill operation cleaner. You can get away w/ using just a long screw driver or clean rod but its not as neat.

I just ordered air filters from Westhills Tractor in TN. The price for the air filters was half compared to my dealer. They do have the hydro filters for the TC24. Give them a call. Actually they have their price list online. Rob was very good about sending me info on my order, and also sent me a part # for furture reference.

I'm glad you posted that link. Makes me appreciate my dealer even more. His prices are better than those - and I thought his were a little high. Guess I'll appreciate him a little more.

Unfortunately, no he doesn't. Just a small country dealer. He just excited that he had a fax machine. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
