finally had the time to run up to my dealer for the filters and some oil.. very easy job. I pulled the loader off, cleaned everything up while I had it off.

Some folks were wondering if my modifications to the front hooks would make getting it back on difficult, well, it slid right on, no problems at all.

The fuel filter was fairly dirty, there were some solid particles of something in there..

The engine oil was dirty, not too bad though.

The HST filter seemed very loose, but there was no fluid leaking before I spun it off.

The main hydraulic filter had orange overspray on it (huh? There is no orange paint ANYWHERE on my tractor...) and when I cracked the filter off, the fluid that came out seemed a little milky, as if there was water mixed in. Not sure what to make of that. I let it drain out whatever was in that line, and topped it all up when I was done. I did pre-fill ALL filters (well, not the fuel filter..)

All in all, it seems to be running a little smoother (probably psychological effect). I am pleased at how easy this machie is to service! Way to go New Holland!

It sounds like you did a good job - better than the dealer would have. The orange paint on the filter is weird. I bought a new filter about 6 months ago when I did the 300 hour service and it was all orange. Did you pre-fill the engine oil filter? I didn't because it goes on sideways and would just make a mess putting it on. I just finished the 350 hour service and didn't detach the FEL and it was still pretty easy. The trickiest part is getting the fuel filter to fit all the way up on, since the sediment bowl hits the oil dipstick tube, so I couldn't just put the filter up on first and then put the bowl on next - I had to put the filter inside the bowl, then put them on together and it was tricky to get the filter all the way up tight with the bowl in the way. I should be good to go now for a while, except for the leaking shock on the tilt steering wheel - Steering wheel shock gave out

Thanks! Yeah, about the only 'oops' I made was topping up the hydraulic fluid before I hooked the FEL back up... since the lift arms were fully extended, they held a fair amount of fluid.. When I checked the level after I put the tractor up for the day, it was a tad over full..

Kris,

Not on topic, but have you used your 72" Woods on the TC33 yet? I have a TC35, and I'm wondering how well it will pull it in the heavy stuff.

The rake? Or the blower?

The rake my 33 has no problem with at all.

The blower is actually a 74, and again, even in snow that was deeper than the blower is tall, it had no problem. I did have to go fairly slowly, but it did not bog unless I went too fast.

I just completed most of my 50 hr service but am having trouble getting the fuel filter off. The small ring holding the globe on just isnt coming off. What did you use to remove it? BTW the oil and large hydro filter on my tractor were on *really* tight. Even w/ a band wrench it took some doing to remove them. OTOH the small hydro filter was loose enough to remove by hand.

One more thing...I used the large 5 gal drain pan from Wlamart. That thing worked out really well! Its low enough to fit easily underneath a small tractor but big enough to hold all of the hydro fluid. I would highly recommend it.

I used my big gorilla hands to loosen the fuel filter, but I know some others have used slip joint (channel locks) pliers..

Thanx!!

I used channel lock pliers. Make sure you go the right way, since it screws on from the bottom it could be confusing.

By the way, did you change the hydro fluid at 50 hours? The manual calls for only changing the filters at 50 hours. The fluid and filters are changed at 300 hours.

Thanx for the input! Yes, I changed the fluid and filters.
