With my L3010HST at 48 hours and waiting for parts for the 3-pt hitch I decided to go ahead and get the 50 hour service behind me.
It went great. My dealer had all the filters and fluids in stock (before anyone asks, I followed the owners manual for fluids).
Friday night I brought the tractor from the shed up to the garage near the tools. Crawled underneath the tractor and located all the plugs that needed to be removed. Figured out what wrench sizes I would need and any other tools.
Had a dickens of a time locating the transmission stainer, as I expected it to be on the same side as the transmission filter. Instead it was next to the hydraulic filter. By the way there were 4 visible metal shavings on the filter.
I had picked up plenty of empty bleach jugs from the recycle center earlier in the week when I realized just how much fluid I was going to have come out of the tractor.
On Saturday morning I started the 50 hour service activities around 7AM and finished by 1PM. I only had one hold up and that was I had to run to the Farm and Home for a funnel that would let me fill the front axle.
The posts on this board and the people who contribute gave me the encouragement to do my own work knowing there was somewhere to go with questions if I got stuck in the middle of the project (it was the $50 dollars per hour that the dealer wanted to charge me to pick up my tractor that really put me over the edge.
I'm celebrating that this part is over for a while.
