A little expensive but had to be done.

A picture of the Hydraulic filter with quite a bit of debris on the what I believe is a magnetic ring...

Didn't really make a huge mess. A few splashes here and there....

Now I have piece of mind.........I also changed the front axle fluid and it didn't look bad at all. I put regular UDT in there. I also changed the engine oil last week along with oil filter.........

Be sure to re-check your ft. differental fluid level in a few days, when I did my 50 hr. srvice I drained it and all that good stuff and re-filled it then the other day I re-checked it after alot longer than a few days and was suprised to see it take a little over two quarts, the manual says it holds 4.8 but you can't call the manual gospel when it comes to capacities.
It is weird I know and my tractor Is a L2800.

That sounds like a leak if you put 4.8 or so in it when you refilled it. Keep an eye on it...

Nope... no leak...I put a little over 2 Qts in and it holds 4.8 per manual, the axle is dry as dry can be.

A friend of mine has a L4330 and I called him to tell him my story and he pulled the level check plug on his tractor and started putting oil in till he put in 4 Qts...his ft. axle supposidly holds 9.5 qts.
I belive the tolerances in the gears and bearings hold the oil back till it can drain into all the little places.

Took it for a ride around the yard and rechecked. Still up to snuff.....

I remember when I went into the dealer and asked for the fluids for my 50 hour sevice. I almost passed out when she pulled out two 5 gallon buckets of SUDT from behind the counter! I think it would have been easier to handle the fluid if I had the option of the smaller containers you had.

The debris on your magnetic ring is shavings from the transmission gears. I had the same thing on mine. It worried me at first, but the dealer and the manual said it was to be expected.

For my front axle, I just put in the amount it said in the manual. I let it set for a while, then drove it around easy. The next day I checked the fluid level and it was pretty much right on. The dealer gave me the 80W gear oil to use, and said it takes this stuff a little while to settle in. I also found it is really important to get your front axle completely level when you fill it and check it. Just a little tilt really skews the level of the fluid.

I just did the "50 hr service" on mine after 100 easy hrs:(

I had about the same gunk on my filter magnet. I did super UDT for the tractor and I also bought regular UDT for the front axle.

I did the math it was cheaper than gear oil, and easier to drain, and fill.

Tractor does feel a bit smoother after the fluid change. Could just be me.
