Would I have a problem with a RCR 1860 on a B7800. Both in terms of lift weight and cutting power? Mainly to be used to keep my woods edge clean in my fields. Have a lot of viny growth like Oriental bittersweet. Some mountain laurel.

If I dropped down to the 1548, anyone see any problems there? Durability?

While I'm at it, looking at a Wallenstein BX42 chipper. Haven't read much here about them.

Ed, I can't say I've had any personal experience with that combination of tractor and rotary cutter, but I wouldn't hesitate to use that at all. I think it would be a good combination; B7800 and RCR1860.

I personally wouldn't use anything smaller. I know it isn't conventional thinking around here but I pull a 5' with my 18hp B7410. It does fine and really doesn't have any trouble even with pretty heavy stuff. I can't just fly through everything and of coarse a little common sense goes a long way. You'll have 7 more hp at the PTO so I can't imagine it'd be a problem at all.

I use a 5' Land Pride rotary cutter behind my B7800--never had a problem keeping up the RPM's in thick weeds, tall grass or brush.

Hi Ed,
I pull a 5' hog behind my B7800, down into a hollow and back up and out. Absolutely no issues as far as power. I do use my LA 402 front loader as ballast, though I took it around the edge of my field last week without the front loader. It just made the front end a little light. If you get anything smaller you'll regret it.

Thanks! Dealer said 5 ft cutter was fine. Just was kind of intimidating looking at 600 lbs of metal standing on it's end like that.

The JD 513 60" Rotary I have can bog my B2910 (same tractor as B7800) down in heavy tall grass. I would still buy a 60" cutter. It covers tires on both sides. Just slow down or cut a smaller width when engine starts to bog down.

I use a Woods BB60X behind my B-7800 with no problems whatsoever..

I have been running a Woods BB60 on mine for years. I keep the FEL on for counterweight and in mid-summer I can mow in High. I have nice flat land.

Good luck with yours!

I run a Woods 60" behind my B7800 and I use it in the woods as well as my fields. The tractor handles it OK, but I take it easy when I'm in the thick stuff, and when I have it up in the air. I have a FEL for some counter weight. I wouldn't go any smaller.:)
