Dealer 4x10 Series Dealer meetings this week.

I stopped at my JD dealer yesterday to trade in my broken hydraulic coupler. Yep, gave me one at no cost!! Too cool!

Anywho, we started talking about trading in my 4100 on a 4200 or 4300. He flatly said - wait! One, no longer being manufactured. Two, the 4x10 series is on its way.

He was flying down to Florida today (Sunday) to attend meetings on the 4x10 series. Deere and Co were going to have seminars and toys, err tractors, for them to try out.

So, sometime by the end of the week, your friendly JD dealer should have some product information. Hopefully, some pretty colored glossies with real information.

Go bug your dealer.

Terrry, I talked to John Deere direct this week and they told me that the 4110 will be essentially the same as the 4100, the next up model , the 4115, will have more horsepower. I would wait wait so you can decide whether you want one of the newer models or you want a deal on last year's models.

Since I have a 4100 (similar to your new acquisition /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif) and it being only 6 months old, the chances of trading it in on another 4x1x model will be slim. When and if (CFO has major role in this decision) I buy a newer tractor, I will probably jump up to either a 42x0 or 43x0 model.

I'm beginning to see the merit of having a few more horses for my applications. The 4100 is great!! I thought the I would need a few more horsepower and weight, but couldn't afford it at the time. Gotta start somewhere!!! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

TerryinMD, Do you run a MM deck or Rear PTO deck. That is my next purchase and I am considering both.

I have an 54" MMM. I have a lot of trees and shaped areas (not by design) to mow and the rear finish mower would be a bit of a pain. The downside of the MMM is that I can't get under my fruit trees and have to do the close mowing by hand (not many).

Again, you need to look at what you need to do and make a decision on which mower will suit your needs. If you do go the MMM route, take a look at the cost differential between the deck sizes. I went with 54" because I couldn't justifiy the $800 or so dollars more for a 60" MMM. In the grand scheme, how much time will a 6" bigger deck buy me. Not $800 worth, that's for sure.

You just made me think of something though. My neighbor has a 5 foot finish mower. I might just ask him I can borrow it to see how it performs.

No... haven't gotten the chance yet.

I got to pay around with my FEL and rear blade during the Thanksgiving holidays. I had 32 cubic yards of soil delivered and needed to move it around. Look under "Photos" sometime this week as I will post some pictures of my project.
