Does it have an external driveshaft like some other tractors that you can look and see if it is broke anywhere??

Try raising the front wheels off the ground with the loader, engage 4wd, and reach under and try to spin the shaft. If the shaft spins and makes the front tires go around, something let go in the transmission/rear end (where ever it is driven from.)

If you cannot spin it, something let go up front because it would be trying to turn over the rear tires also.

I dont know your "mechanical ability or knowledge" so dont take offense to this, but are you sure you lost 4wd? cause the front is an open differential, which will allow ONE of the front tires to NOT spin if the other is in the air or looses traction.

The drive shaft is in a tube. I rulled out the diff by lifting both wheels and turning one tire. The other spins opposite. When grading my driveway I can spin only rear tires. Linkage is fine. Gotta be shaft or transfer case problem. Going to dealer this week. Just curious if it is gonna happen often or if it sounds more like a defect. Warranty runs out soon. Seems like the front drive is weak on a tractor. It looks stronger than it really is. An atv has a small diff small shaft and I've never broke either on atv's. Yes tractors weigh more but I have spun the heck out of atv's going over stumps without breaking any atv 4wd parts. Some of my buddys have but they were really asking for it. I was spinning my tractor backing uphill and the left front tire hit square on a stump and I lost 4wd. Thanks for replies.

4wd is all fixed. Warranty covered all. Thanks rogers sport center of fort kent and thanks to bobcat. They recomend a ballast for the rear. It was a broken gear in the diff that breaks before destroying major parts. Should cost under 300 if I break off warranty. Used all day today with a big smile!

My CK20 broke its 4wd after about a month of use. Took a lot of discussions with dealer, East Texas Tractor, to get them to fix it. But, the fixed it under warranty, even delivered it to me. And then went out business the very next day.

Since then it has worked well with no issues. Just hope I don't have any more major issues, cause it is a long way from where its parked to the nearest dealer.

If you have a loader on one of these small tractors, you need ballast on the three point to unweight the front axle. No ifs ands or buts.

I had a 72" rake on the back when it broke. Problem is i was spinning backwards up a steep hill and hit a stump hard with the left front tire. Will be careful in the future.
