4700 - FILTER PART #?

Help! - I need the oil filter # and trans filter # for my 4700 HST. Went to the JD dealer - he was for what ever reason less than positive about part #'s - think he was new to the whole thing - they gave me - oil # M806419 and trans #AM102723 - they do not look the same size as what is on there and the new oil filter is way smaller. Dealer has been servicing unit during prior perodic visits so this is really first time for us - question - do I have to drain the whole 8 gal trans system to change the trans filter?

Deere has manuals on web site, but it looks like 4700 has been replaced by 4710. Not sure filters would be same but here is site.

Check out <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.deere.com/en_US/ag/servicesupport/tips/tractors/augusta-service-interval-change-improved-hydrostatic-filter.html> this link </A> for your correct tranny filter. The am102723 was the old small one, and JD recommends a different larger one for HST trannies. Hope this helps.

Gator - big thanks - wonderful info on that page - dealer gave me the wrong one - in fact think the JD on line parts page is showing the wrong one!! Still a bit confused on the oil filter - there appears to be two options - M806419 or M801209 - they gave me the 6419 - man is that thing small!!

Don't know for sure about your tractor;but, on my old 3020, you just pull the tranny filter case and about 1-1.5 qts. of oil will drain out, then replace filter and bring oil back up to full mark. There is a "valve" in the filter cavity that prevents loss of excess fluid.
But, if one wants to change the screen or clean it-- that is a different story. ALL the fluid drains out then. The plug for that is adjacent to the filter housing, but not the same. Hope this helps you. I would guess that you can change the filter without loosing all your fluid! Don

Here's the part numbers, from the owners manual, for a JD 4710.

Engine Oil Filter--M801209

Transmission-Hydro--LVA10419

Suction Side Filter--LVA11522

I got to thinking. I don't think the 4700 has a suction side filter? I think that came with the 4710. Anyway, you don't have to drain the oil to change the filter. Just use a pan to catch what little you will lose when you remove the old filter.

You do need to clean the suction screen though.

50 hours---change filter, clean suction screen and new hydro oil. If i'm not mistaken I think the 4710 holds almost 10 gallons of hydro oil.

200 hours---change filter, clean suction screen.

400 hours---same as 50 hours

Now why the heck did JD not put the part #'s for filters and etc in my owner's manul - too easy I would guess!

Filter part # M801209 was replaced by Filter M806419 many months ago, tractors we recieve now and the printed parts book still show the M801209, but it does sub to the new number
