I have a bad copy of the gear box schematic which I attached, lots of parts in there?!?!? lol
Anyways I removed bolts on side of gear box and the cover is very tight. Should I tap the cover plate with punch to get it to seperate?
Once I get the cover off will that give me access to the bearing? And if so what is the best way to remove?
Sorry for my ignorance.
John Deere new shaft is about $245 CA before shipping.

Again Thanks for the help guys!!

Your parts diagram is typical.

The shaft for sure shows a key mid way. (save the key)
The seals are part #20, 2 ea. (I'd replace them)
The bearings will surely be OK. (they are in oil)
\Bet the shaft is 1 inch! and more or less 48" long.\
A simple length of cold roll steel with a key way!

For sure split the gear box, slightly rotate the input shaft to help disengage the gears as you pull.

Any machine shop will cut U that key way slot!
Bring both ends so that they copy exactly.
LOL, crude but U could cut it with a hand held grinder (not recommended)
That shaft should cost no more than $10.00/ft! and a shop perhaps $50. for labor or so.

As I suggested earlier, I'd replace the 2 end bearings on that auger shaft as they are about $5.00 each or so while you have things apart. (the ones at the housing ends)

Hey, good luck! You will beat it!

When U re assemble be sure to very generously grease the augers and shaft so that if in future you ingest a hard object the auger(s) will sheer the bolt rather than snap the shaft.

My 4 ft blower was so rusted that the augers were literally rust welded to the shaft and in my case blew open my gearbox and distorted one auger beyond repair.
.Blown box, shaft and auger made repairs un economical.
You are lucky.

That blower is not made by Deere, but probably by a shop down east here in Quebec that seems to supply them to all tractor firms in whatever color.
They went under the name of 'Bervac"

Shaft is actually not to bad looking but yes if I can get it going again I will. I think the overall abuse over last 16 years has taken is toll. I think the side housing had bent and I tried to straighten one of the augers and might have tweaked the shaft? I should probably buy new augers and fan but think I will invest in a 3 point for B2650 instead, if I can repair this one on the cheap it has been a great blower for the little 425.
Saying that I need to keep up the maintenance and give the mower deck a good re & re.
Just wish the snow would stop coming. ... lol Have about 5' or there.

Hello BCwoodtick,

I would check with the Pronovost dealer in Alberta which is closest to you "Starline Equipment Sales" 1-780-986-5548 or 1-888-601-6611
to see if they have a TRC800 with the rotating impeller drum(if you have 2 sets of remotes on the B2650 or you can use a diverter valve for it with one set of remotes.

Well thanks guys, finally got it apart and the gear box does look ok to me?
Will take shaft and gear box to the shop after work and see about getting a new shaft.
Hopefully everything will go back together ok. Will need to give augers, fan and housing a little tlc before trying to put back together.
Hoping a week or so and will have it close to done?
