I recently bought a 2003 4310 with 130 hours on it and want to buy a backhoe. The local dealer said the least expensive backhoe listed is the 375 and quoted a price of $8,800 installed. I see in this thread a lot of 4310's equipped with a 47 backhoe which the JD website lists for $6,900. Will the 47 work and what are the advantages of the 375?

If I recall correctly the 47 became the 447 and then the 375. In simple terms, the 375 is a 447 that has been re-engineered to sit about 12" further back, allowing it to be mounted on a 3x20 CAB tractor

You might do a comparison on Deere's site.......I believe that the 47 has a straight boom and the 447 / 375 are curved.......thusly they will have more force to dig with. Depth maybe an issue also.....the 47 digs about 7'-6" deep straight down.......I am not sure about the 447 / 375.

Your 4310 will also handle a 48 BH.......if you can find one......the 48 will dig a foot deeper and have more reach that the 47. Look for a used one on the internet. Deals can be found if you are patient.

I got mine with the #48 backhoe. Works OK, but it is really pretty big for this size tractor. #47 would probably be a better fit. I have the 24" bucket, I would really like a smaller one say 16-18". Unless you really need to dig 24" trenches, the smaller bucket would really be easier on the tractor.

Anyone out there have a 16" bucket they would sell ?
Thanks

Theres a new 18" thats been on Seattles Craigslist for a long time so maybe you could strike a good deal, shipping might kill it though.
