4520 jd engine oil ?

what kind of engine oil do most of you guys use when you change oil . The
manual recommends John Deere Plus 50 ,but what weight oil and brands do some of you guys use? what is the price difference between john deere oil a
qt. and other name brands oils?(shell,rotella,etc) thanks

I generally use Rotella T 15w40 in all my John Deeres. I did use JD Plus 50 oil in my last change in my 6400 just because I didn't want to make a separate trip for oil. The Rotella should be cheaper if for no other reason than you can get it at Walmart but I don't think the JD oil is too much more expensive. Go by the manual on what they suggest on oil viscosity but 15w40 should be fine for anyone during summer.

I also use a 15w40 diesel rated oil. i generally go for valvolene fleet (diesel)... I'm in florida.
