Hi all
I have a 2004 4500 w/loader. at high rpm it is blowing lots of white smoke and missing. runs ok at idle. it has only 167 hours.
I have some questions on changing the fuel filters, still original.

first I have read about the ksb relay causing similar problems, can I bypass it to test? if so how, and where exactly is it located?

on the fuel filters...
how the heck do you reach the fuel shutoff valve, I cant get to it...my hand wont fit in there

next because of the loader brackets, I can not access one of the fuel filter bolts, how do people manage to replace the fuel filters if you have a loader?
thanks for any tips,

I may have to take it to dealer but it wont fit in my trailer, and they want $200 just to come get it.

Sounds more like the fuel pick up strainer is clogged. Come on you can get your hand in there to shut off the fuel, I do. First shut off the fuel, then remove the filter closest to the fuel tank. Once it is off open the fuel shut off. You should have a nice heavy stream of fuel. If ya don't the pick up screen is clogged.

sorry, I meant drain the fuel tank valve ,not the shutoff. the drain valve is really hard to get to, the shutoff on the left side is easy.
thanks

between the starter and the loader bracket being in the way of the primary fuel filter, I suspect that the whole fuel filter bracket assembly may need to be removed to get to the primary fuel filter, there is just no way to get at the bolt.

I have a 4530 should be the same set up. You really only need to turn the bolt on the top of the filter casing not pull it out. The bottom half of the filter will drop straight down. I do agree it is not the greatest place to put it but it is doable.
