Cant decide
Hi folks, I got out today and got prices from a local dealer here is what i came up with:

4610 e-hydro
4x4, R4 tires, 460 loader w/73" heavy bucket,
Ballast box, and I-match $23,720 + tax 8%
( $6150 for 48 backhoe w/18" bucket includes power beyond.)

4410 e-hydro, 4x4, R4 tires
430 loader w/61" heavy bucket, ballast box, and i-match $20950 + tax
($5175 for 47 backhoe w/12" bucket and power beyond)

backhoe prices are if I bought w/ the tractor. Also they would sell me the MX5 cutter for $1600 (includes slip clutch) at time of tractor purchase. Are these prices good? and would it be worth the diff. to opt with the 4610? even though its more tractor than i need now? thanks in advance for any input on this. Mike

I can't say which to get. Nobody else has chimed in, either.

Here's what happened in my case. I decided on the smaller frame. It would work in all my trees and other tight places. And the money left more room for implements. I have been very pleased.

I was dead set on the 4410, but I was going by the (erroneous) published specs. That is why I moved to the 4310, and it has been fine.

I paid $23K, so for $3K more you add 3 Hp, ballast, iMatch, 2 bucket upgrades and r4s. Thats pretty good. Thats VERY good!

The 12" bucket for the 47 is a smart choice. I can't argue the loader bucket uprade, though I have NO regrets with the std. model. I am glad I got the r1s, too.

$4K more for the 4610 is a lot of atatchments, but if you need it, get it!

Hi I am just wondering why you are considering moving up to the 4610 and skipping over the 4510? Just curious. The local rental place here has 5 4410's that it rents out, must say something about there durabilty. I don't have either (yet) but I think they are great tractors. good luck Pete

How much land do you have and what are you trying to do with the tractor? Those are important parameters.

I have a 4410 and have been pleased with its power for the size. A 4610 would lift a little more, but it means that it would just save me a few hours a year, which I don't mind spending on my 4410. You get to add a 460 loader (vs 430 loader on the 4410) so that means you can lift more. I'd focus on that as the primary benefit. I have a MX5 rotary cutter, and the 4410 has plenty of power to operate it.

The only reason I skipped over the 4510 was the lack of e-hydro. My wife made it very clear right from the start that if i was gonna spend this much on a toy that she was gonna use it too! hence the need for ease of use, although I havnt test drove a power reverser yet. As for use, right now i only have 6 acres but will possibly buy approx. 58 more that adjoins my 6. also a good friend wants to hire me to dig water services for him. My main focus is to buy the right package to start with. as i said in my initial post the 4610 would be over kill right now, but do i want to spend the extra now and not worry down the road? The 4410 is probably all ill need but will extra power be needed to dig 4' deep trenches in variouse ground conditions?

I would go for the 4610. You step up to the bigger frame and more hp. Unless you need a smaller tractor. As far as price go to the JD website. 10% off list would be a good deal. 15% a better deal and up to 20% or so would be an excellent deal. I pretty much get 23% off of most deals that I make but I buy alot of equipment, parts, service, etc. There is also alot of competition in this area and it's mostly deere. There probably aren't 10 dealers of other tractors within a 150 mile radius of me.

I can't tell you much about the 4410 but we just bought a 4610 a few months ago to replace our NH1720.

We only have 5 acres but needed something a little more powerful. Unlike you, I specifically DIDN'T want the hydro trans, it's just not my style. I like to be able to vary RPM while working with a loader instead of just letting the engine rev high all the time. My wife uses it every weekend and adapted instantly to it, because it's very similar to driving a car, except easier with the power reverser which is enormously useful.

I was a bit skeptical but went with R4s. I wanted the wider tires in front because of the loader. Traction is definitely not a problem as it can easily pull a 3-bottom plow with minimal slippage. After three months of use, I can't detect any wear at all on the tires.

I can say that the 460 loader absolutely puts our old NH 7308 loader to shame. It is very powerful and strongly built, and the controls work quite well, although I don't have much luck with the regen feature.

The extra reach on the 48 sure would be handy.

Mike, I've been looking at the same class tractors and trying to decide also.

Started looking (and lurking and lurking) about 2 years ago. Was looking at Kubota B7500, then 2410, then 2710. The size of tractor just keeps growing. Now trying to decide between 43/44/45/4610 Deere.

After having driven 43, 44, and 4510, I am most impressed w/ 4510. The larger frame and increase in HP (as mentioned by Cowboydoc) definitely make for more tractor.

I will probably go with 45 or 4610, as I believe I will occasionally have use for heavier/ higher HP tractor. I was initially considering nothing but Hydrostat. However, after having driven E-power reverser, am sold on that. Like JD4610, I like to vary engine RPM's while doing loader work.

Here is my initial quote.
4510
E-power reverser
4X4
R1's
Dual mid SCV's
$19,119 plus tax (16% off list)

460 loader
61" std bucket (i will probably upgrade to 72"
4 in 1 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Bucket level indicator
$3,516 plus tax (14% off list)

Total $22,635

My advise would be to test-drive the power reverser before you buy, as it is very easy to operate. Then look at how much room you have to operate in. You can most likely get your dealer to bring tractor(s) to your land for a demo. Nothing like real-world experience. If you can work with the larger tractor, you will definitely be able to use the extra power if/when you purchase the additional land.

Just my 1.5 cents worth.
