I am adding a bale grapple to the list of attachments. Looks like there is a spare (3rd) un-used valve bank on the hyd valve that is plugged and there is no factory linkage conected to the spool.
The specs for this tractor indicate that it is a 5-valve.
I noticed an old post on this site that mentioned adding an additioal valve to the system to run a grapple, Is there some reason why the plugged 3rd bank can't be used instead?
Thanks

Welcome to TBN,
You correct, there is a 3rd valve on the SCV (loader valve). JD sells a kit that includes the lever, hardline, and brackets to make this "3rd SCV" work.

There are a couple of additional kits to consider, too. One adds a second set of connection points to the third valve line that mounts to the back of the tractor. You can only use one or the other at one time, but you don't have to switch anything, just plug into the one you want active. The other one is an option for the 430 loader and gives you hardline plumbing from the connection points forward. If I were KennyD, I'd have instant access to the kit diagrams and part numbers, but I'm not, so, you'll have to look them up. :D

You can Jeff, just register (for free) at www.jdparts.com and you get access to the same basic system the guys at the parts counter uses. There is a quick tutorial linked in my sig to help as well.

As for the other kits, I will agree that the 3rd function kit for the loader can be handy for grapples and such, but the other rear kit it a waste of money IMHO.

Here is the 3rd function line kit:

The kit is #BW14715 but they seem to be NLA anymore. Remember this series machine is over 10 years old so these kits are getting harder to find.

I know how to do it, Kenny, just giving you a hard time...which I shouldn't since you're always so quick to share. I will disagree with you on the rear kit. I use mine for a hydraulic top link. I actually use it more than I do the forward outlet for the grapple.

Is my tractor really that old? Time flies.
