I am getting various answers when I ask if my 4400 will handle the MX6. Is anyone using the MX6 on a 4400?

I use my MX6 with my JD 4710. FWIW, your 4400 may be better off with the MX5 simply due to PTO HP requirements.

Thanks for the reply Bob. I am pulling an older 6ft. BMB now, so I think I will stay with a 6. I guess I will have to go with one of the lighter mowers instead of the MX6.

Thanks again,
Mike.

I'm pulling and old 6' Dragon Products Hog that weighs a lot and is about as rugged as you can get, with my 4400, and I have never had a problem. I don't think you will have a problem with the MX6. I've cleared underbrush and even sheared a few bolts, but the 4400 handles it fine.

CTS,

I have a 4700 with an MX6. One concern is that the MX 6 is
heavy. Even with my FEL which has a heavy 4n1 bucket, I can
"rock" the 4700 when I pull the MX 6 up with the 3PH and
hydraulic toplink. Its no a problem for me but on a smaller
tractor I would be concerned about keeping alot of weight on
the front end. That MX6 really hangs off the back of the tractor
a good ways so it has lots of leverage to go with the wieght.

Thanks for that info guys. The weight of that cutter on the back of the 4400 is the biggest concern. I think it could "pull" it, bit I'm not sure it can handle that much weight that far behind the tractor. I have used a over-seeder that weighs more than the MX6, but it would be nice to be able to use the cutter without the loader on the front.

Thanks again,
Mike.

I have a MX5 on my 4410, and it is heavy. I've used it with 6 suitcase weights on the front, and that's fine as long as I'm on pretty flat ground. Try going up a small incline and it doesn't feel very safe. With the FEL it's fine. I think the MX5 is ideally sized for the 4400 size tractor, and would be a little concerned about going larger unless I had relatively flat mowing and lots of it.
