4320, 72"MMM, 400CX

I am in the market for my 1st tractor. I am currently looking at many different models and brands. I have 15 acres to keep up with horses for the wife, I was wanting some good info on the 4320. It seems like the size i want and should be plenty of HP. What would a good price be. I have been quoted between 28,500 and 29,500. I was hoping to get good financing options come spring. Is this the price range it's gona run? Seems alittle higher than the other brands. Other options?

Seems a little high to me. I was quoted i think somewere around 27000 for a 4520,five more hp (i think) I guess it depends on were you are at. SG

Hi:

I second the question "Are you sure you want a MMM"? With a tractor that big I'm sure you have a lot of other uses for it. I have a 3720 cab and a 2305 - Had a 3320 before the 3720 cab. The MMM on the 2305 is great, easy to get on and off and raises pretty high (High for the 2305) for work. The 72" MMM I have that I had on the 3320 and now the 3720 cuts great but is a pain for a variety of reasons. It hangs too low to leave it on for most work and is a pain in the butt to take on and off frequently. I just last summer bought an 84" RFM since frequent removal of the 72" MMM was such a pain. I would have gone wider than 84" (I finish mow about 5 acres with it) but I was worried about scalping and also they get very expensive once you go above 84".

Unless you have a bunch of tight spots to get in and out of (In that case get a cheap rider or push mower to get them along with the RFM) or need to use an MCS on it I would not go with the MMM (on the 3000 or 4000 series) after having one. I do still use mine for collecting leaves but I don't plan on using it much to mow any more - the 84" RFM is much easier to put on and off and then I can do 'tractor stuff' without worrying about bottoming or banging up my $3000 deck.

Note however that I would go in a heartbeat with the 62MMM on the 2305. Takes me about 2-3 minutes to dismount it and it holds it's level and settings.

I finish mow about 5.5 acres and I currently own a JD 755 ZTR. I was wanting to get rid of the ZTR and have a tractor to work the pasture and do odd jobs and maintain the 1000' drive i got, help with the hunting club with shooting lanes....and alot of misc. stuff. I know it may be alittle big for my needs but i would rather have too much than not enough. I live in Central Louisiana. We have a few horses and i plan on adding an arena later also. Should i be looking alittle smaller, I like the John Deere engines and that's why i was looking in the 4000 series.

I also think you would be much better off with a RFM, especially on the 4000 series. I have heard that the MMM setup on the 3000 series is a little nicer but that puts you into a Yanmar engine rather than the JD Powertech of the 4000 series.

I have a JD 757 ZTR and love it. I don't know anything about the 755.

Depending on your yard and the tires you choose for the tractor - it might really tear up your yard. I have to say on my yard my 4720 with R4s does not hurt it.

It sounds like a 4120 might do what you want. Why the 4x20? The Ehyrdo is hard to beat.

Save the money on the MMM and upgrade your ZTR so you have something good for cutting grass.

well that's what i needed to hear. I still want the 4320 but I will not be getting the 72" MMM. What should the price be for the 4320 with a 400cx loader. I was hoping to get in it under 25K. Is that just wishful thinking. What is the price difference between the 4120 and the 4320?

Under $25K should not be a problem. I bought my 4720 with a MX6, 400X, box blade for right at $30K.
