A buddy of mine is in the process of buying a 4310 and the dealer tells him that you can't put a mid mount mower on the MFWD model. According to the JD site you can put the 72" deck on it. Anyone know anything about this?

I'm sorry, but a lot of the dealers just aren't as knowlegable as they should be. I always build my tractor online and bring in the sheet with all the codes and list prices. You would think that the dealer would do it the same way, but mine gets out the book and starts punching away on a calculator. John Deere's website will tell you everything that is required to put on that attachment as well-no thinking involved. Look at my attachment-you can get a 60" and a 72" mid mount for a 4310. Show this to the dealer. Good luck

The dealer has a 60" MMM he doesn't want to be stuck with and he's waiting for an uninformed buyer.
The 72" fits fine and works awesome. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think the bigger issue is the sales people at dealers. Ask them what tractor they have. Most of them have never even owned a JD before, not to mention the latest and greatest that JD has to offer. We know more about these tractors because we have actually owned them. I went through the same thing buying a new truck.

Thanks for the input. The dealer here is more concerned with the ag tractors and I don't think they pay much attention to the compacts. I'll pass this along to my buddy. He will be a happy camper!

I think the problem may be the type of tires.
There are issues if one has industrial type tires on the 790. That may be a problem with the 4310 and MMM as well.

I've got R4's on mine and they do touch if you go full lock in one direction (I forget which) but it's never been a problem. My fronts are the 25x8.50-14's. There was one size bigger offered, a 27x8.50-15, that one may have been a problem, but only when making sharp turns.

i just got my 4310...nice tractor with a lx5 bushhog. the hood has no release level to let the hood down, altho it shows this in the manual. am I missing this thing for a reason, or is it supposed to be there??? I`ll be going back to the dealer maybe tomorrow to see about this

No release on mine either. When the hood is all the way up it falls into a notch to hold it up. Pulling down on the front causes it to spring out of the notch and close.
When it was new it was unlubricated to the point that it wouldn't spring out of the notch when it was up. It was so hard to close I thought I would break the hood trying to get it our of the notch. A little DrySlide in the mechansim and it works smoothly now.

Thanks for the help guys...I'm the guy Frank is referring to.

I want my 4310 configured with a 72" 7iron MMM, a FEL, and a Box Blade. It currently has R4 tires, which I want to retain. I'll talk to the dealer this week and re-address my desire for a 72" MMM since he is now trying to talk me into a 3PH finishing mower. I believe the MMM is better for my purposes, especially manuevering around obstacles.
