I was test driving a 4310 and was doing some rapid
back and forth by using the forward/reverse pedals
to slow down like I do when on a Kubota B21.
The tractor stopped moving and I had to restart
to get moving again. Is this typical for this machine
to disengage the transmission when using the forward/reverse
to slow down instead of the brakes. If so then this
machine would not be very good for all day loading.
Also the pedals were quite mushy, meaning that the
response time was quite slow, I just learned about
motion match so hopefully that clears it up.
Thanks,
Jt2

You have hit both forward and reverse at the same time and this cause the travel pedals to not work. If you would have pressed the brake it would have allowed you to keep doing what you were doing. You would not have to shut down the machine and restarted it. As far as the pedals being mushy...............each machine will feel different. Even new machines of the same model and year will have a different feel between individual machines.

Sincerely, Dirt

Thanks Dirt,
So just to make sure.
It's ok to use the pedals to
slow down ie when traveling forward you
can tap the reverse to slow down
or stop but make sure
not to hit both at once.
Thanks again,

Yes, I never use the brakes.

That is why I sold my 4310 and got a 4300! NO ELECTRONICS!

You don't have to tap the opposite pedal to slow down. Just let off the pedal you are using. JC

Hey dieselram,
I remembered seeing your
post but I couldn't remember
your name or find the post,
did you have that same problem
often or did you sell it before
you got used to it? I know
I saw somewhere here that
you can adjust the response
time on the pedals. Did you
have motion match on your
4310 and if so did it work
well.
Peace,

I have it on mine (motion match), sounds like you have yours set on the slower acceleration/deceleration when you talk about a mushy pedal.
I never need the brakes, don't even know why they're there and I definitely never needed to hit the opposite peddle to slow down, I always keep mine set for the quick accel/decel in low and med range, just not in high range, it'll throw you forward out of the seat just letting off the pedal.
in med range with 2200 rpm's doing rapid back and forth loader work there is no delay, as soon as you let off one pedal before you move your foot to the other the machine is stopped.

I will get a flashing code if I hit both pedals at once but never had to restart.

I read in the manual you can personally set the roll-out on the motion match to whatever your preference is. The previous owner may have set it longer. I never have had to use the brakes on my 4310 except to clean under the deck, better safe than pinned under it. I have mine set for longer roll-out for mowing and use the shorter setting for loader work. It works exceptionally well. Hitting both pedals will set fault code 9 (1 long and 3 short flashes)should clear when both pedals return to zero (neutral). Restarting the tractor will also clear it. I have not used a 4300 but I love the e-hydro, I will also say my local dealer dosen't know jack-s*** about fixing fault codes so I bought a technical manual and learned. My 4310 had a Throttle Position Potentiometer code in it when I bought it and was easily fixed by calibration. The previous owner traded it because his dealer couldn't fix it either, but I did with a voltmeter and some time!!

Thanks a lot guys,
so it sounds like
the pedal response
time is adjustable using
Motion Match! if the tractor
has it or adjusting it some
other way if you don't have it
..... sorry after
a week and a half straight on
the internet (looking at tractors)
8+ hours a day
and over 700 miles driving around
Wa to test drive tractors
my brain is total mush.
