Does anyone know how I can fix a sticking joystick on my 4310 with 230 hours on it? It just started doing this a few weeks ago. I can free it up by working it back and forth a bunch of times, but the next time I use the tractor it sticks again, in both left-right and forward-backward motion.

It seems to me like something needs lubing, and I have pulled the joystick boot off to see what I might lubricate. It's not obvious, at least to me, what might need a little spritz of oil. Also, the linkage is tucked under a cover and not easy to get to.

Another TBN member had the same problem last year, but said only that the dealer took care of it. I like my dealer, but his service guys don't work for free.

I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Just to make sure you really have a problem, does it always stick either forward or right? If so, that isn't a problem, it is a feature. On the forward it puts the bucket in "float" and to the right it puts it in "dump". If you're aware of these features and the problem is something else, I apologize for bringing it up. But, sometimes the simplest answer is the right one.

We had this problem on our 2002 4310. To resolve it, I had to take off the seat in order to gain access to the ball joint ( I think it's actuall called a hyme joint?) used to connect the stick to the DSCV -- lubing the joint took care of the problem. I never was able to free the joint simply by quirting WD40 or another lubricant up into the general vicinity from under the fender. It takes a ridiculous amount of time (approx. 45 minutes) for such a simple fix!

Thanks JEA. I was afraid of that. Oh well, if that's what it takes, then I'll do it.
