Hi all. I have a 430 loader on my 4300. The linkage that attaches the boom to the bucket seems "loose?" With the bucket unloaded, there seems to be alot of side to side play. In othere words as I am going over bumps, I can see the whole linkage moving side to side. Is this normal or do I have a problem? BTW, the loader is less than 2 months old.

Thanks

I have the same set-up, and don't have any slop such as you describe. I am assuming you are talking about the quick tach point, and if hooked right, there is no way for a lot of side to side movement, that I can see.
Maybe using the loader manual would help better understand what you are referring to here.

A picture might help too. Hope we can help figure it out.

beenthere: I think he is talking about the loader arms moving while the bucket is not attached to them. They do move up and down and back and forth while the tractor is moving and the bucket is NOT attached.

Sorry Beenthere: he is talking about the bucket being attached but empty bouncing and moving side to side. I do have some of this with my 430 also and it seems normal.

Might be. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'll wait for Dickey to further explain what he meant by ""there seems to be alot of side to side play"".

I gathered that he meant more than just some normal rattle in the bucket, which anyone would expect. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hi guys.

Here is the part I am talking about. Seems like excessive side to side clearance to me. I can move the whole hydraulic ram side to side with this linkage. Any thoughts?

Seems as long as pin "C" fits into hole "D" and is secured, then there cannot be much movement side to side of the bucket (as first what I thought you were pointing out).

The side to side movement of the bucket curling hyd ram might be loose for some reason, but I can only move my curling cyl at most about an 1/8" side to side (where your arrow points). You might check the pin size at that connection (the FEL pictured looks like the newer cast linkage, and not the steel plate ones like my 430 FEL on my 4300). The cast iron linkage may be fitted more loose than the older 430 FEL's (how's that for 'poor' grammar /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif ).
