4255 john deere wont rev up

I got a 4255 that will only rev to about 1700 rpms any idea what would cause this?

Are you in Iowa city at -12 or Tampa at 70?

Check to see if your fuel filter is cloudy.

If it is, your filter is probably gelled. Enough fuel would pass through to run the engine, but not enough to rev it much.

What's ambient temp? Is fuel tank venting? Check for good flow from fuel tank to inj pump. How many hrs of use since fuel filter was changed

Also suggest evaluating check valve if you have one

its not temp related its been doing it all year never thought about a check valve being in that fuel system ill look and see if it has one. (off topic why don't I get emails saying I have new posts on my questions.)
