425 John Deere
I just bought a 425 John Deere. 1183 hours. I know almost nothing about tractors. When I got it home and started it up, it spit some hydraulic fluid out of one of the 4 holes/caps that the hydraulic hoses for the snowblower connects to. There are no dust caps on it right now, I intend to buy some. However, I drove it around a little bit, PTO shaft sometimes stalls a bit before starting. But when I got back I noticed that some hydraulic fluid was dripping out of that same hole. What could be causing this and what needs to be done about it? Thanks!

It sounds like the hydraulic quick connects or QDs. Those are a fairly common item and they do wear out and leak sometimes. It’s also possible that a little chunk of debris is stuck in it and hooking the snow blow up and disconnecting it will fix that. If it’s replacement time most hydraulic shops stock the QDs- just bring a set of your old ones in so they can match them up.
