The pics of the 48C deck shown will not fit your 425. And you mentioned needing a gear box.. ?? Seems to me, you are a long ways away from fitting this deck up to your 425, as the deck shown is a belt drive deck indicated by belt-tightening rod shown.

Good job on the pic posting. Narrowed down our thoughts and suggestions, that should keep you from making a buying mistake.
Keep looking for a 48" deck that fits your 425.. it will have a drive shaft to connect to your PTO and the right connection points for the lift arms and the front draft bar. The one you found is not it!

Thanks so much!! I figured as much, this guy was just trying to make $500 off of somebody! I will keep looking and in the meanwhile just keep welding the old one up!!

The guy got real mad at me for asking all the questions and he typed me the model number of the deck??? How am I to know that it is the right number? Called me a rocket scientist ha ha and said a 48 in deck is a 48 in deck get your (excuse the language) damn deck someplace else!!! So I don't think he someone I want to do business with!!

I will keep that in mind I don't know how far it is from where I live but I will say I just bought a 1999 445 from a person here locally it has 1000 hrs. Cam, water pump, mower belt and battery all new well taken care of a one owner with all the paper work since Deere did all the work. Here's a pic I apologize my camera doesn't take very good pics.
