422 blew up part II

So, how does the deutz deal with slopes? I did not notice anything special about the pickups unless PT is modifying them?

No clue. Since the 1850s run at 45 degrees, the engine clearly works. The engine does have a relatively deep oil pan, which would favor sloped use.

All the best,

Peter

Ponytug,

The manual for the 29HP states 25コ continuous is okay. Anything steeper must be not continous. (they don't state any more defined than that)

I think the Kohler Commands have that same 25 degree spec. I can't see ever being on a steeper slope than that for very long. I certainly wouldn't want to be working a 422/425 on a steeper sideslope. I can see (for my use) a brief intermittent steeper slope, when going straight down off a bank or something.

Dear Steve,

For what you need, that sounds great. As others have mentioned, I wouldn't want to be on slopes that steep with a 425, or a 429. :) YMMV

All the best,

Peter

Another thing to remember is the slope rating is for a full sump. If the engine oil is down some, the slope rating is likely to be compromised.

Just one more reason to check the oil prior to each use.

Does the transmission sump have a slope limit? It's probably different on some pumps than others since the pump intakes are at different heights.
