4200 4wd indicator switch

My 4wd light doesn't come on. Does anyone know where the switch is that activates the 4wd light? I've determined the bulb is good. It does go into 4wd but I get no light on the dash. I've looked on JD parts, don't see it.

Are you sure you had a bulb that lit up on your 4200? I know for a fact I never had one on my 4200. Because I saw an icon for 4WD on my dash, but remember looking underneath and there was not socket at all for a bulb. I had one of the first models of 4200's when they came out though. Because when I got my 3720, I was happy that I finally had an indicator light.

Yup got a socket with a bulb in it. It did work then stopped. I switched the bulb to another socket and it lights fine.

Are you sure it's actually switching to 4WD mode? Hopefully it's just bad circuitry in the indicator but the mechanism works fine.

Yes the 4wd does work fine just doesn't light the indicator any more.

The 4200 has a light for 4WD? Hmm. My 4600 doesn't have one... I just note the difference in the turning/pull/etc. and the fact that the lever is still pulled up.

Is this light on all 4x00 models?

My 4210 has a lighted indicator within the FWD switch.

My 4400 doesn't have a 4WD light on the dash, or if it does, it doesn't work. I just look down at the lever.

Likewise on my John Deere 4500. I asked the dealer about it when it was under warranty- factory never made it a "working" light.

Ah. Good. After 5 years I'd hate to think that I would have missed that light not being on...
