42" deck on x500

Does anyone know can the x300 42" deck mount on the x500? I have a x300 with a 42" deck and the neighbor has a x500 with a 48" deck. He wants the 42" on the x500 and I want the 48" on the x300. The x300 is a 2009 and the x500 is a 2010. Looks like they can swap but wanted some other opinions before dropping them.

I dunno, the frames look very close to me, and I suspect that the transaxle is the main difference between the two........ and some bells, and whistles that don't affect the mower deck. They both have the manual lift, right? I'm guessing that it might just work. It isn't too much trouble to take the decks off, and try them at any rate.

A lot of people don't realize but the frames on the X300s and X500s select series are the same.
