4115 over 2520

Would there be any reason to buy the 4115 (dealer has one left) over the 2520? While I can't find the specs online, I remember the 4115 be more compact. Does anyone have the actual spec difference.

I was originally going to wait for the 2320 but according to the the brochure their doesn't seem to be much difference in height or length? So why would buy the 2320? or what would the advantage be

Go to TBN's Deere Owning Operating Forum and check the FAQ that we are putting together. there is a link with tons of info on the lines including the 4115.

I have a machine that is the same series as the 4115, and there are a number of things that I prefer on mine over the new improved replacement. But if I were going new, I am sure that i would like the new one.

So look hard at the 4115 - it is a sweet machine.

Some things I had written down from my search, hope it helps.

2520 has 3.8 more ft-lb. of torque & 2.5 more hp
2520 has a larger engine which runs at a lower RPM (only 500 RPM lower)
2520 Fuel tank is 1.3 gal larger
4115 weighs 94 lbs. less
2520 has 2.7 gpm higher hydraulic flow for steering
2520 has independent lift available for the ride on MMMs
2520 has standard folding ROPS

Information was from early in the process as a new 4115 didn't end up being an option I didn't look too hard. There are likely some convenience features as well. How good of a deal is the 4115 compared to the 2520?

These MIGHT be clues, I think the Tier2 engines use a bit more fuel....

It doesn't appear that it was a deal.

4115 w/200cx loader, 54 mid mount mower =$18,050 + JD Forks(850), and Ballast Box(0) $18,850,

This is compared to 2520 quote of 2520 (13,550) + 62d Mid mount mower (2500) + 200cx loader (2200)=$18,250 +
JD forks 850 =$19,100

I passed on the 4115. Now I have to decide if I want the 2320/2520 or step down to the 2305.

Any input is welcome

The limited Cat 1 three point on the 2305 was IMO too limiting.

The 2520 has double the 2320s hydraulic flow rate along with the ability to run a 5' bush hog.

Not sure if the 2320 is even available so it may be pointless to ponder...

Not sure how much or if tier2 changes fuel ecconomy, but it would be interesting to find out.

The improved emissions should reduce fuel consumption/hp. This is apparently the main reason why JD replaced the 4115 with the 2520. Both are direct injection.

The 2320 is to be indirect injection and is pretty much a replacement for the 4110.

If you have very uneven terrain or have to run your tractor up over logs, vines and twigs, you may want to pass on the 2305. Read about owners' experiences with busted hydraulic fan blades (underneath and plastic and about 4 or 5" less clearance for the 2305 vs. 2320). The hydraulic cooler on the 2320/2520 is the same as for the 4010/4110/4115: in front of the radiator where it's cooled by the engine fan.

I'm sure that I would have ripped out the fan on a 2210 if I'd gone with that model instead of the 4010.

For some unGodly reason, my 2210, with 159 hours logged, has yet to have a problem. I know I'm not the only one. One thing for sure, when I mow, spread, or distribute heavy stuff up my significant hills, I don't need to look for low range . . .

I bought a 4115 this week over a 2520. For me the reasons were availability and price. My local dealer only had a "demo" 2520 on loan from the regional sales rep. They sold more than one during their Open House last weekend because of this demo model. I was "sold" on the 2520, too. Until they told me that I'd have to wait until June to get it! My grass and driveway can't wait that long. So I bought a very slightly used 4115 (71 hrs) that they had just received in on trade. The differences between the 4115 and the 2520 are minor (IMHO). And I got the 4115 for $2K less.

It's a strange time for JD pricing on these tractors!
The MSRP for a "new" 4115 is $2,500 HIGHER than the MSRP for a "newer" 2520. (How'd dey do dat?)
Only because mine was a "used" tractor was I able to beat the price on the 2520. But, because my 4115 will be delivered in a few days, instead of a few months, it was an easy choice for me.

They must have given you a date based on a 'for stock order' (mistake my salesman made). Someone corrected him and figured it out based on a 'pre sold unit order' there was a big difference in lead time (over a month)

Anyway I'm still waiting and likely will be for 11-12 more days. Grass is getting pretty tall! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
