I have a 4110 Mahindra 4x4 with frontend loader and Bradco frame mount backhoe and 500 hrs, which for the most part I love the thing, except for the fact that the loader hydraulics will bleed off.

The bucket (empty) will bleed off and roll down while the tractor is, lets say mowing for hours, within 30 minutes or so I can roll it back at least 1". While the bradco backhoe will also bleed off, either on or off the tractor.

Now the dealer that I bought it from says that "Mahindra says that the issue is a BUILT IN SAFETY FEATURE!" As far as I am concerned, that is the dumbest thing that I have ever heard. The dealer isn't very much help at all, except to blow air my direction, which now leads me to my question......

......Is there anything that I can do to fix it?

Thanks for any help.

Tony

You can repair/replace parts that cause the leak down.

Most leak downs are caused by worn seals.

I don't think that is a safety feature, but most hyd will leak down with a static load. Some leak down as you watch and others takes days or weeks to leak down.

There are needles valves that you can shut off the fluid to help some of the leak down, and load check valves.

Could also be worn valves, and there is nothing that one can do for worn valve spools as they are a precision fit.

That would mean that everything on the tractor was worn out new from the factory. Not very good since I bought it brand new.

NO, not necessarily worn, I said worn, because I did not know the the birthday of your tractor.

Tolerances on the parts will have a great effect on the leakage rate.

Machines that are used with more safety involved like man lifts, bucket trucks, will have greater precision engineered into the hyd apparatus.

You would expect a hyd valve costing $600 to be better than a valve costing $159.

If you are good at hyd, you can track down the cause of the bad performance, IE, leakage.

It will probably be difficult for you to find the leakage rate for the hyd components of your tractor from your dealer, but you can track down where the leakage rate is not acceptable.

If you ***** and whine long and hard enough to your dealer, they might do something. They primarily want to sell and never want to see you again except to purchase parts.

My Power-Trac lift arms will leak down from about 7 ft to the ground in 24 hrs. Now, that is acceptable to me, but if I have to move a heavy load and the load is dropping by itself as I am moving, that is not acceptable.

A lot of it is how much can you tolerate.

That isn't out of the norm for your loader or backhoe.

The dealer probably has a leak down test which would include the rate of leak down in inches over time to determine if any warranty work is required.

Whether you believe him or not is the question.

Did he make any statements about the leak down before you purchased the tractor?

Oh, that is normal most of them say, and they all do that as a matter of fact.

How many times have you seen the loader buckets up at a dealership, and still up the next week.

Safety dictates they should put the loader arms down.
