328 hrs and faced with my first problem and hope I can get some direction on repair. At the bottom of the 509-backhoe boom at the swing post, there is a small quarter inch hose, which I assume is a hydraulic pressure release for the valve assembly. It痴 continuously releasing hydraulic fluid. What would cause the fluid release and what repairs or part replacement is needed to correct the problem?

Sounds like the petcock to relieve pressure may be open slightly.
The knob should be down towards your right foot, if I remember correctly.

Bill, I'm looking at my assembly manual for my 509 and I fail to see any vent lines. All the hoses there are listed as .25, assume i.d. so if there is a 1/4' hose leaking, check to see if you have any connectors missing a hose. Did it come off somewhere? But then you should have noticed a performance problem with the bh. . My 509 is mounted on a 5525, but I dont think the lines would be different as the 509 is a separate unit from the tractor.

I dont have my tractor with me, 100 mi away, but looking at the mechanical and hydraulic assembley manual, I fail to see any hoses that should not be connected to something.

The swing cylinders and stabilizer cylinders are the only items using .25 hose. The rest are .38 dia. Sorry I can't help more.

Look at the valve assembly #2237 in the parts book. Item 8 is the relieve valve. Item 10 is the .25 plastic drain tube.
That valve is used to relieve pressure before dissconecting the main hose's from the tractor.
I never really needed too use it, I just pop the hoses off.

Magyarbacsi, Willman right, that is it, thanks for pointing it out Willman. I must of hit the needle valve open with my foot. I looked in the manual and I did not see the plastic hose .25x30 and needle valve, oops.

I thank you both for your assistance.
