I am thinking about getting a mule 4010.
The gas model is $1000 less. Is there an advantage to going diesel.
The primary use will be putting around the farm carrying a sprayer, chain saw and trimmer
instead of plopping them in the bucket of the kubota.

thanks
joe

We have a diesel Trans. The diesel is much noisier. Unless you use it a lot more than most people you'll never wear either engine out. You will have to change the spark plugs occasionally on the gas. It probably comes down to what kind of fuel you have stored.

Gas will sour faster than diesel BUT much easier to clean/drain the system.. diesel will "grow" critters in the tank, filters & oil for a diesel are expensive..
Depending on the frequency of usage would determine which model. [for me]..

If I had to do it again I would still get a gas model. The diesel came out right after I bought my gas model so for me it was not an option. My 4010 gas has done everything I ask of it. I even pulled my Boomer 8N for a short distance to be able to winch it on a trailer. I take it in once a year for service, costs $99.

Gas. When I bought my 2017 4010 Trans 4X4, I was considering the diesel. The dealer talked me out of it. Purchase price is higher and so are maintenance costs. This our second one, the first one served us well for ten years.

I have the gas engine and like it. A client has the diesel engine and he likes it, but I think it's way too loud for me. I don't see the advantage for the money.

Thanks for the replies....I have both fuels stored plus I'm only about 10 miles from a fuel station.
I think I'll go gas and put the extra cash to a top and windshield.

Most likely either one is fine. My choice is diesel. Like what was noted, they are loader. That is the only thing I do not like about diesel.

I would go with a diesel just for the simple fact we have a large supply of diesel at home and I wouldn't have to mess with getting and storing gas. the only gas things we own are blowers/weed eater, four wheeler and my Miller bobcat. Really with the last two were diesel to make them one less thing to worry about

I too vote for diesel, especially if you already have diesel engines. I have a 300+ gallon storage tank in my barn for my tractor and now it serves my Kioti Mechron 2200PS too.
