Starter only spins will not engage flywheel, can I jump across the starter posts to eliminate the solenoid for trouble shooting.........? thanks for any advice

Jumping solenoid probably won稚 help you. Sounds like maybe the bendex is stuck or broke. Try a large hammer or new starter. But, don稚 quote me. Good luck.

Your starter drive is shot. Jumping the two large posts on the solenoid won’t tell you anything, doing that does not energize the solenoid and the starter drive for sure will not extend.
