4000 Ford Dash

Anybody had to deal with a Dash Instrument cluster mounting?

I have a 68 with a C5NN-10A949-B threaded inserts molded in.

All I have found is a C5NN-10A949-c ( 1965 up) with big holes, nothing to mount the gauges.

Reading the description is E6NN10N849AA 4 nuts that are not illustrated.

I looked at a 75 3000, no gasket but it had 4 sheet metal nuts, 3/4" or so wide.
I did some looking and found only 1 place online that listed them and most of there web site was inop.

Does anybody know where i can get such nuts?

those clip nuts are similar to body panel mounting nuts.. not much mor ethan bent tabbed thin metal to screw thru.

in a pinch i have taken tin tabs, trimmed oblong, bent then in half, used a nail and a block of wood to make a pilot hole, then slipped them ove rthe place I'm screwing to. done this on dashes and radiator grill mounts.. works fine...

That sounds better than trying to rig a t nut or finding a wide spring steel nut

Up here those flat spring nuts (not sure of name) are a common hardware store item, in those cardboard divided boxes of nuts/bolts, etc. I would think the spring steel in them is more durable than sheet metal in a vibration situation. edit: clip-on nuts, McMaster Carr calls them: McMaster-Carr

Most Auto Parts stores, O'Rileys, NAPA. Auto Zone, Advance, Pep Boy's, Western Auto carry them.

Still haven't measured but these are 3/4 or wider and shallow with a #10 screw hole.

Most this wide will be deeper with a bigger screw or bolt hole.

What amazes me, the c was a up grade covering 65up yet the required nut isn't available?
