I love black berries and black berry jelly and black berry cobbler. But I hate all those stickers.(thorns)

Steve, that really made that corner look nice, and the folks driving on the intersecting street must love having a clear view of the intersection. I think having that little rise on the backside also adds to the interesting aspect of this lot. You did a fine job and I hope your neighbors appreciate what you've done. Good luck with getting the county to help with drainage.

I second that. Nice work!

I have 40 acres of 15 year blackberry growth. I have found so much stuff nestled in those acres. I now just found a new logging trail two weeks ago.

do yourself a favor and hit the area hard with Crossbow and then again the spring and next fall. We are finding three years of steady spraying helps getting them killed off.

Our biggest find was 20 apple trees burried along a hillside. Once we pulled the berries away (previous owner never knew they were there) they are now producing massive apples.

Great job ! - I have had experience reclaiming land..pictures make it look easy but even with a tractor , FEL and implements it still is a lot of work...by the way the building in the picture looks like it would make a great country store..was it one at one time ?

No, this area is cluttered with old country stores that cant compete anymore, infact behind me is a old store that was just rebuilt and is looking for renters; but the other store a few hundred feet away has most of the business.
The building is a old convention barn, used to be used for feeding and upstairs was a dorm for the yearly church conventions. Now used for storage; a childhood dog was named Barney after his litter was borne under it.

Nice job clearing the space. Looks neat and tidy now and the big tree looks like a focal point. Are they going to mow it with a lawn mower now? Won't that keep the bberries from coming back?

Jim, I think the litter thing was implying "the litter in which he was born"....:D

Thats what I meant!! he was born under that barn....

Now that the big berries are down, mowing once a year will be easy; or the owner may keep up the mowing with the surrounding lawns. end result is that the berries are done. His next goal is a lot of fill dirt to eliminate the swamp effect at the base of the bank; and there is a big old cedar tree that will be dropped into the cleared area. now that all the junk is gone, cleaning up that tree will be easier.
