I guess with today's modern self-priming diesels, it's not as big a deal. But on the old ones (my 750 and 855), just remembering the procedure on how to re-prime after 10 years of never running out of fuel, was a bit of a chore.
The old Cub Cadet was great. Gravity-fed fuel tank, right on top of a gasoline engine. You could run that one out of fuel and still restart it like it had never even run dry, after re-filling the tank.
