Chipper 4" chipper for scut

one more question for you guys with the wallenstein.
How does it self feed older dry wood, say 1-2" dia.blueberry?
I only have 1 wooded acre that I want to partially clear and then use for maintence. I cant afford a hyd feed machine.

Well I bought the wallenstein BX42 with manual hopper today. I am quite happy with it. I managed to stall the tractor with a 4"to5" piece of oak. Once it got below 3.5" the engine rarely slowed. It self fed surprisingly well considering some of the wood was dry or standing dead. The only drawback is the lower mounting pins are to low for the BX. I will put two 4x4 psi treated on the bottoms of the skids and all is well!

Glad to hear that you are happy with the Wallenstein. I'm happy to share my own experience, but never want to lead someone astray.

You mention that the engine stalled on a 4" to 5" piece of oak. In my world, anything that size if firewood, but I'm guessing you were testing the capacity of the chipper.

I believe I understand what you are saying about the pins being too low for the chipper. In my case, I kept the pallet that it came on and that makes it perfect to line up with my tractor.

I have not had any problem hooking up to my M-F 2300 right off the truck, however I made a frame with casters on each corner to allow movement in any direction. Sure beats dragging the chipper around in the garage when I have to move it.
I am sure you will be happy with it, I would reccomend to anyone, Good luck.

The biggest issue with the BX24 will be the weight of the chipper and what kind of ground you'll be moving over. Sure tossing an 800lb chipper on a 5000lb tractor is fine but the BX weighs 1500lbs to 2000lbs.

I have a Salsco 600 that I run on a B2910. It weighs about 400lbs and even at 400lbs you know it's back there when moving on uneven ground. Chippers end up pushing a lot of weight pretty far back from the rear axles of the tractor.

Any of the Jimma/china chippers While they work fine will be dangerously heavy on that machine.

Compact size is nice if you can get what you need. I find the tractor with the smallish unit I have can be easily maneuvered through the woods to get to palces I want to use it.
