I was ordering some brass and aluminum stock of the internet for my neighbor, I got reckless and ordered and
3"x6"x24" piece of Al. After it was delivered I knew it was folly and put it aside, ashamed to show my neighbor.
After several weeks as a door stop, I bring it over to his garage and say "Look what I found".
At first he asks me if I am a thief ( or know one). After I fess up ( beer, big ideas, and the internet) I get the "It's too big! What can I do with that? What a waste! What did you do that for." routine.
In any case a month later and he made 3 of these of it...

I can upload a video with better lighting if anyone is interested.

The flywheels are castings. Aside from those and a bit of pipe here and there and the oiler and such, it is all made from scratch. Now that he built these "prototypes", he said he is getting the block and head cast to save a bunch of machining.

I love metal- all shapes and sizes. You can always cut a big piece down- it's a lot harder the other way!
