Howdy. I recently purchased a JD 4200 with the 3rd SCV. I'm not actually using it for anything right now but I was pushing the lever back and forth and it started spewing hydraulic fluid out the rear quick connects. Is that normal or should I be rebuilding/replacing them? I'm gonna be draining the fluid this week anyway so I might as well get all the hydraulics taken care of at once. Thanks!

The two QD's are probably bad. They can be replaced anytime though...they are not under pressure unless the lever is moved.

But, in the future-It's not a great idea to move the lever when nothing is hooked up and the engine is running.

What if instead of replacing them I put a loop hose on them? That would also prevent a problem with moving the lever.

You could do that, but having a hose made will cost as much as or more than two QD's. Why are you moving the lever?

If I have the right size hose ends, I already have a loop hose. I'm not really moving the lever. I moved it once to see what happened and twice to verify that fluid was actually coming out. And I anticipate my wife or kid will move it at a later date so the loop hose is probably worthwhile. Do you know if the power beyond QDs are the same size as the 3rd SCV QDs?

Not sure, on my tractor the PB QD's are one size bigger because they have to flow more fluid then the QD's on the remotes. Just be sure to leave the loop connected on the PB anytime the tractor is running or you can damage your machine.

Oh yeah. Not removing the PB loop hose. I'd have all the fluid on the ground in the first minute after starting the tractor! That would be quite interesting to say the least.

BTW, JD Parts wants $33.28 for each QC and they are different than the PB ones. I wonder if Tractor Supply sells them cheaper.

Now why would you want pictures of mine when its just like yours? :)

Its not that pretty... its a work tractor.
