I visited with Rob & Loretta last February for a few hours. Both are doing well and yes Rob is working on the cabins.

Dinely Job Site.jpgHello Brandi, Scott, Eddie and Brian
Yes I am still kickin' but rarely visit TBN because I'm so busy. Eddie and Brian are right, I bought another piece of property and started building one of four new cabins. Loretta and I will rent them out most likely to a Sequoia National Park employee(s). The property is less than 2 miles from the Park entrance, and the employees are always looking for a place to rent in Three Rivers. I started out doing it by myself and my son, but he got tired of it and moved away. So then I worked all by myself. Soon after, I got one of the young men who helped build my home here, and sometimes another helper. But they only help me n the weekends, and not everyone. That means I get help 4 or 5 days a month and the rest of the time I work alone. I"ll try to post some photos if I remember how to do it in another post. Have to run now...

Great hearing from you again Rob.

I forgot your handle and tried finding posts under Mahrinda or Jinma tractors that might lead me to your messages. Good luck with the new project.

Thanks Brandi for bringing him back to TBN.

Thanks for the update Rob.

Paguy,
I was rereading my barn thread and he had posted the link there. I have missed reading his posts and looking at neat project photos.
hugs, Brandi

The grass doesn't grow under your feet Rob. I still wonder where you get all the energy? :)

I'm gonna try to posts a few photos of the first cabin after I tell you what I had to do to start.
Holy mackerel, it takes a long time to build this first one, because I didn't work on it all the time, and I had no idea of what I had to do. So instead, I had to mess around with the county for permits, and they took their sweet time approving the drawings to start off. It was a big learning curve for me.

So here are a couple photos of the cabin with my tool trailer next to it.
As you can see, I had to make do using my concrete forms as make-shift scaffolding, lol. This day, I had two helpers who were naiing the Hardie plank siding while I was below, sawing the planks to length and angles...so this was a good day. The outside is nearly done except for the front porch, and the inside is also nearly done except for installing the wood (bamboo) flooring and appliances. Here some photos of the front and inside.

Then if you want to see more details and my story, I should start a new thread. I have all the steps documented with photos from clearing the ground to digging the infrastructure for 4 cabins...all the water lines, well drilling, making the electrical panels and laying all the pipe for all the cables and phone and water, not to mention digging and installing the septic tanks and leach fields for all 4. That's why it's taking me so darn long for this first one.
Let me know...

That's one heck of an excellent cabin. No wonder it's taking so long to complete. Congrats.
