3pt woodsplitter vs Gasoline powered

I have a Troy Built 27 ton with a 5.5hp (I think it's a 160cc engine) and HP is not a problem. When the engine is cold the engine's governor acts a little funny. It will rev the motor up too quickly then slow it down. It only happens if you take off choke too soon. My choke is just a metal rod with a ring on the end you pull and has infinite position so I just leave the choke on slightly until the engine warms up.

I wouldn't worry about it being returned. About the only thing people break is the hydraulic pump because they didn't add oil. It's a yes or no thing though. If they didn't add oil the pump will seize in seconds and need replacing. So it's possible someone didn't add oil, seized the pump, tsc had it repaired, and now can't sell it as new. Or someone needed to split a cord of wood and then returned it.

I have a splitter that looks exactly like this one:
Horizontal 16 Ton 3 Point Hitch Attachment Log Splitter - FREE SHIPPING | eBay

It works great. Don't let the people who are obsessed with "you need a 900 megaton splitting force splitter or it won't work" deter you. This splitter works just fine. No it won't split through the center of a crotch in a log but anybody who splits wood knows that you split crotch logs from the bottom end to get them to work. It is fast enough that one person splitting and keeping the splits stacked or moved away isn't going to be after that too long before wanting to take a break. For us it works good to have my buddy and I dropping logs on the machine, one kid running the splitter, our wives taking the splits away to the stack pile, and 2 other kids stacking the splits. Doing that everybody is busy enough to break a sweat but still has time once in awhile to grab a drink of beer or root beer or step out to check on the grill.

My thought is to make a day of cutting and splitting wood with friends and worry less about having the fastest splitter on the planet. :D

Chances are it will be fine. I worked at a Lowes for a while, in hardware. People were always returning tools after using them for a project. One time a guy returned a skil saw that was all worn out and demanded his money back. I told him we didn't even carry that brand and refused to OK the return. He went to the manager and the fool gave him a brand new saw. No wonder things are so expensive these days.

well like i said i ran her about 2 hrs and it did fine i kind of like the trough shape the wood lies in.On the Troybuilt you have to hold the wood or it may roll off the beam.On this one she lays between the guide rails and stays there.
