3pt won\'t lower!!

I've got a B2100 that just got back from being in the shop for six weeks for a bad hyraulic line. Now after about 10 hours of catch-up work this weekend, I've got two problems. One is the sensor/relay that keeps the tractor from starting in gear. Been replaced three times, but last time dealer told me most folks by-pass it. Thanks! So I did by-pass the relay and it starts fine now.

Then after raising the brush-hog to go finish cutting, it won't lower. Can anyone elighten me about how the hydraulics work for raising/lower the 3pt and belly mower? I removed some of the parts of the lever/gears and nothing is stripped. It appears everything moves freely down to the piece connceted to the main housing. I can manually rock the gear back and forth but nothing moves regardless of whether the tractor is running or not. Also, is there anyway that bypassing the start-cancel could defeat the hydraulics? Can't imagine since the deck will normally lower even if the tractor is shut-down. Any help would be appreciated, I can't go without this tractor another six weeks!! And all the shops are backed up like crazy around here! This machine only has about 350 hours on it. Thanks for any help!

Re: 3pt won\'t lower!!

Check the valve that controls the speed of the 3 point lowering it might be closed. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: 3pt won\'t lower!!

Make sure that the drop valve is working and wide open as well as that there is no obstruction (stones etc) that impede the mechanism......also make sure that the control rods are actually working......

Re: 3pt won\'t lower!!

as mentioned before check the control vlave that controls the speed at which the 3pt lowers, open it slowly, if u open to fast the attachment might drop like a rock

Re: 3pt won\'t lower!!

Thanks all. The speed control knob was one of the first things I checked, and turning it all the way did nothing. However, I went back and played with it some more and after turning it all the way closed and then all the way opened, I put some extra pressure on it at the all the way open point and it sort-of clicked and turned a little more and the 3pt lowered. Not sure if it was jammed/stuck part-way or what, but it's working now and I think I'll just leave it alone /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
