3pt= rockshaft ?

I think I've figured out that a lot of folks on here refer to the bottom two arms of the 3pt as the rockshaft? I've got to admit to never having heard the 3pt called a rockshaft ,can someone explain to me where that reference comes from(just curious). Anyway my question is, do I understand correctly that the 2210 does not have a position control on the 3pt? So it is either up or down ,no stopping it where you want it?And while I'm at it , just how much hassle to change,just an external valve or is it an internal setup

The rockshaft is actually the shaft that the 3 pt arms connect to that raises/lowers them.

The 2210 does not have an adjustable stop to replicate an earlier position. You can, however, stop the rockshaft in any position as well as float.

Rockshaft is rockshaft. Like BB said it's the shaft that is actually on the tractor body that the rockshaft lever controls. Your 3 point refers to the three arms that you use to attach the implement.

The purpose and where it got it's name really comes into play with the draft control. When you are using an implement that digs into the ground, like plow, disc, etc., you can set the draft to not dig in. If you hit a rock the rockshaft with the draft sensing will raise the three point so you glide over the obstruction or harder or softer ground. Your implement won't bury itself in the ground but will glide up and down with the resistance in the ground.

You can also set the rockshaft control to make the three point raise slower or faster. This helps with implements you need to raise slower or faster.

There are numerous other functions of the three point and rockshaft as well but beyond a simple post here. They come into play for farming mostly.
